The Jade Ying Yang
This is a beautiful Black Locust root piece from southwest Virginia. The root creates a full circle in which we mounted a removable Nephrite Jade sphere. Offsetting the sphere, stands a removable Nephrite jade obelisk.
This jade is a deep green high quality material sought after by carvers, artists, and jewelers.
Jade has historically used for ceremonial purposes in many cultures. During the Chinese dynasties Jade was used as a form of currency much in the way other cultures used gold and silver. To this day there are pieces of Jade in China worth more than gold by weight.
The wood for these piece is harvested in the mixed hardwood forests of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Being naturally durable to the elements these pieces are found dead in the forest, partly sculpted by the weathering of nature. after drying we carefully choose and compare stones with different wood pieces to find the ones that fit aesthetically. The the wood is cut, sculpted, ground, sanded and finally a finish is applied.
This piece represents balance and serenity and brings this balance into your home. A true one of a kind piece of art.
